Award ceremony – German and European Solar Prize 2025

On 17 October 2025, the German and European Solar Prize 2025 award ceremony took place at TechHub.K67. Participants at the event in Düsseldorf were presented with inspiring projects from Germany and Europe that are driving forward the energy transition.

The event began with a welcome address by the president of EUROSOLAR e.V., Stephan Grüger. He first welcomed Minister Mona Neubaur, award winner Dr. Simone Peters and Christian Mildernberger, and thanked them for their kind support in preparing the event.

In his welcoming remarks, chief executive of NRW.Energy4Climate Christian Mildenberger emphasised the coming together of different political persuations with a common goal: “In a democracy, it is invaluable to be able to find soluations that cutacross partisan lines and work together on particular issues.”

State Minister for Economics, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mona Neubaur welcomed the audience and gave an impressive keynote speech. “Especially in times when parts of society think; maybe we should make things a little more comfortable, i.e. fossil-based and thus supposedly calm and familiar – it is now more important than ever that we use award ceremonies like this to give ourselves hope, to tell ourselves stories, to empower ourselves for everything we will need in the near and distant future to rally the majority in society behind the good, economically sound and ecologically necessary idea of the renewable, solar age.”

Following the welcoming speeches, the winning projects were shown in videos that demonstrated what they are and how they make a meaningful impact on the energy transition. You may view them here. The celebratory award ceremony powerfully demonstrated how Europe and Germany can play a leading role in the energy transition.
